Sleep Now for Flugelhorn Trio
by Eddie Lewis
Sleep Now for Flugelhorn Trio is a short lullaby that could be programmed as a Christmas piece, or could be programmed without any Christmas connotations.
The piece is only 32 measures long, but people like it. I guess that makes it something of a novelty in the sense that it is too short to be the main work of a performance. It would make a beautiful piece for a recital or Christmas concert.
For the most part, this piece is a simple one. However, the first trumpet part does have a high B flat. The high note comes in at the end, but the piece is only 32 measures long. So it’s not very difficult. I would put it at an intermediate level, the Trumpet Apprentice level in our own skill level system.
