My Only Love Trumpet Duet

By Eddie Lewis

Forty Trumpet Player Duets book

The My Only Love trumpet duet is number two in our Forty Trumpet Player Duets book. This is a book of intermediate trumpet duets that fit into our Trumpet Player Skill Level. They are listed largely in order of difficulty, so My Only Love is one of the easiest in the book.

If you like My Only Love and would like a book of dozens of similar trumpet duets, then we encourage you to visit the Forty Trumpet Player Duets page on this website.

We would also like to encourage you to check out our other duet books as well by clicking HERE (Trumpet Duet Books). We currently publish six different trumpet duet books (as of 2023).

Trumpet Player Skill Level

The most obvious aspect of the Trumpet Player Skill Level is that the highest note is written G above the staff. All of the duets in the Forty Trumpet Player Duets book, including this My Only Love trumpet duet, observe this restriction. There are six Gs in the first part and nothing higher.

In the second part, the highest written note is fourth space E.

Aside from some syncopated rhythms, the rest of My Only Love trumpet duet is all quarter-notes and half-notes with a few eighth-notes sprinkled in there. If the range was lower, we would have put this trumpet duet in the duet book for the Trumpet Tyro Skill Level (Twenty Trumpet Tyro Duets).

Please keep in mind that the music listed at a certain skill level is not meant to be sight read by musicians of that skill level. They are meant to be practiced. Sight reading should be done at least one skill level lower than the trumpet player’s current level.

  • Dolce means “sweet”, so play the duet smoothly and melodically.
  • Use your third valve slide on the appropriate notes beneath the staff.

My Only Love Trumpet Duet Performance Video

Below is a performance video of My Only Love Trumpet Duet. The purpose of the performance video is so that you can see that the parts are genuinely playable. In our modern times, it is too easy to write music on computers without ever knowing if the music works. We make these live performance videos to demonstrate that the duets are indeed accessible.
