This is one of the earliest from our Trumpet Hymn Duet series. It’s so early that there wasn’t a series yet when I wrote it. The idea to keep going with these trumpet duet arrangements of the hymns only occurred to me later.
This arrangement of O Jesus I Have Promised stays very close to the melody most of the time. The second half of the arrangement puts the melody in second part and the first part has a counter melody floating over the top.
Trumpet Player Skill Level
Even though the highest note in the piece is an A above the staff, I’m going to put this piece at the Trumpet Player Level. Just keep in mind that the range is one note higher than what we would normally rate as a Trumpet Player piece. It’s basically very easy and for a strong intermediate student it shouldn’t present any difficulty.
