Eddie Lewis’ duet arrangement of It is Well With My Soul opens with a triplet figure in the introduction but then the first verse is in unison until the refrain. The rest of the duet progresses in intensity, adding counterpoint to the original melody.
This duet is part of his trumpet hymn duet series where he tries to add interesting interpretations of the hymns without straying from the original harmonies and original intentions. These are not “jazzed up” hymns. They are fairly conservative without being boring.
