Babe of Bethlehem Christmas Brass Trio
This version of The Babe of Bethlehem is so “traditional” that I can’t find it anywhere online. It’s a strikingly beautiful Christmas carol that I first recorded for my Unadorned Trumpet Carols album. I sourced it from an old hymnal.
What makes this Christmas carol so beautiful to me is the contrast between the first theme and the second. The first theme is in minor. The second theme is in the tonic major. It really is a shame that the melody is not more widely known.
After falling in love with the Christmas carol as a song, I decided to add it to our brass trio Christmas repertoire. The musicians loved it and so did the audience.

Trumpet Player Skill Level
The Babe of Bethlehem Christmas brass trio is written at our Trumpet Player Skill Level. The most obvious aspect of this skill level is the range, which tops out at G above the staff for the trumpet part.
The highest note in the trombone part is A above the staff, which makes it a bit more difficult than the trumpet part.
The highest note in the tuba part is C sharp above the staff.
