Blessed Assurance Trumpet Hymn Duet
Frances J. Crosby, Phoebe P. Knapp
Arr. Eddie Lewis
Blessed Assurance is number 19 in our Trumpet Hymn Duet series. These are trumpet duet arrangements of hymns that are designed to be 100% appropriate for traditional church services. That said, because of some added chromaticism, we are going to say that this hymn arrangement, Blessed Assurance, is only about 97% appropriate for traditional hymn services.
I did write a blog about this arrangement, so if you would like to read more about why Blessed Assurance is not 100%, I invite you to click the following button to go to the blog. It will tell you all about it.
Other than reading the blog, you could just listen to the recording and see for yourself if the chromaticism is too much. I don’t think it’s too much or I wouldn’t have published it as part of the series. But it does push the limit more than the other hymns in this series have.

Trumpet Apprentice Skill Level
The skill level for the Blessed Assurance Trumpet Hymn Duet is Trumpet Apprentice. This is mainly for the range because the first trumpet part does go up to a written B flat above the staff. The rest of it is pretty easy. So if you have a range up to high B flat, then I say, go for it!
