Description
Belief
For Trumpet and Piano
by Alex Lewis and Eddie Lewis
So what does Belief have?
Belief is a beginner trumpet solo. The main feature of this piece are the intervals that return to base. Return to base is a musical technique that trumpet players have to learn early on when taking trumpet lessons. In Belief, for example, the notes go from D to G, back down to D, jumping up to A, back to D, and up to B. Return to base happens many times during the composition.
Trumpet students have to learn how to play intervallic jumps and Belief is a great composition to practice those jumps. It’s a great feature for a beginner trumpet solo. The great news is that most people will be able to learn it after a few lessons.
Why the name is Belief
Although this composition is called Belief, there isn’t anything particularly religious sounding in it. I’m referring more to the ‘belief’ that people have whenever they start something (like trumpet lessons!). Usually when people start a project, they naturally have the belief that they will be successful. Real life is more complicated than that of course, but this is a great simple message for a more simple time.
So keeping the above paragraph in mind, this is a great beginner trumpet solo to play. I see it as a beginning of a journey. So buy Belief, practice it, and perform it for your friends and family.
Skill Level
Belief is a Trumpet Pioneer and beginner trumpet solo. Most beginner trumpet players should be able to play this composition after a month or two of lessons.
