Description
La Phantacita March
We are calling La Phantacita March an experimental trumpet duet. This is because I used a compositional technique that I invented in the 90’s but never thought it was possible to use with trumpet duets. The first composition I used this technique for was a brass quintet I call Three Famous Soldiers.
Skill Level
The skill level for this trumpet duet is advanced. In our seven level system, this is at the sixth level. We call this our Trumpet Master skill level. The range only goes up to D above high C, but the technique required to perform this duet well is quite advanced.
One of the aspects of the composition that makes the technique more difficult is the tricky fingerings. These fingerings are partly a result of the composition technique mentioned above. Another aspect leading to greater difficulty is the flexibility.
If you are working on either of these aspects in your trumpet playing, then La Phantacita March is a wonderful way to challenge yourself and grow.
