Jesus Paid it All Trumpet Duet

Elvina M. Hall, John T. Grape
Arranged by Eddie Lewis

Here is another duet from our Trumpet Hymn Duet series. Jesus Paid it All is a lovely hymn in three-four. It’s perfect for Easter or any time of the year.

This arrangement of Jesus Paid it All begins with a short introduction. Then the first verse splits the melody between the two players in a sostenuto style. The second verse is a little faster and more rhythmic. It is followed by a short modulation, using the same material as the introduction.

The third verse begins with a powerful statement of the melody in octaves. When it gets to the refrain, sixteenth-notes are added to reach a dramatic climax. The refrain is repeated (repeat optional). Then the duet ends on one of the “Optional Amens” that have become a trademark of the Trumpet Hymn Duet series.

Skill Level

If you are using the ELM skill levels, then this arrangement is at the fifth level which we call the Trumpet Pro level. This means that the trumpet players need a range at least up to high C. Other than the range and endurance, there is nothing tricky in this arrangement of Jesus Paid it All.
