Description
Cyclic Delights Trumpet Duet
Cyclic Delights trumpet duet is an original composition in rondo form. A rondo is written as A – B – A – C – A. The form is typically not as condensed in most classical music as it is in this duet. But I write it that way so that the students can SEE that form more easily.
In Cyclic Delights, each segment of the rondo is only eight bars long. The exception being the opening A, which is twice as long because the second part establishes the first theme as a solo.
The style of Cyclic Delights trumpet duet leans towards a march.
Forty Trumpet Player Duets book
The Cyclic Delights trumpet duet is number eight in our Forty Trumpet Player Duets book. This is a book of intermediate trumpet duets that fit into our Trumpet Player Skill Level. They are listed largely in order of difficulty, so Cyclic Delights is one of the easier duets in the book.
If you like Cyclic Delights and would like a book of dozens of similar trumpet duets, then we encourage you to visit the Forty Trumpet Player Duets page on this website.
We would also like to encourage you to check out our other duet books as well by clicking HERE (Trumpet Duet Books). We currently publish six different trumpet duet books by Eddie Lewis (as of 2024).
Trumpet Player Skill Level
The most obvious aspect of the Trumpet Player Skill Level is that the highest note is written G above the staff. All the duets in the Forty Trumpet Player Duets book, including this Cyclic Delights trumpet duet, observe this restriction. There are two G sharps above the staff in the first part. There are over third top line F sharps.
In the second part, the highest written note is fourth space E. There are only two of those and over twenty fourth line Ds.
Cyclic Delights is in the key of A (G concert). There are two E sharp accidentals in the first part on the first page of the duet.
