Description
Contento Panson
for Brass Quartet (2 Trumpets, Horn and Tuba)
by Eddie Lewis
Contento Panson is one of the many pieces that uses the clave in Eddie Lewis’ classical compositions. Eddie played mostly salsa gigs for almost twenty years of his life and he became thoroughly infected with the clave. The difference between Contento Panson and most of the other clave compositions is that Eddie gave this one a Spanish title.
The skill level on this piece is intermediate except for the rhythms. The horn does have an optional B flat above the staff, but it doesn’t have to be taken up. It’s a figure that is repeated and taken up an octave the second time. But the higher octave is not entirely necessary. Other than those things, the piece is an intermediate skilled piece.
