Trumpet Player Skill Level

The Trumpet Player Skill Level is the third level in our system, the first of three intermediate levels. Music and exercises written for this level will have a range up to G above the staff. (For compositions with multiple trumpet parts, the range of the lower parts may not be as high, but the other musical aspects will be as advanced.)

Range is the most distinguishable characteristic separating the seven skill levels in our system, but every aspect of music is graduated across the seven levels. At the Trumpet Player Skill Level, the music and exercises begin to utilize all twelve major keys, more advanced rhythms, and more mature time signatures.

Typically, trumpet players using music and exercises from the Trumpet Player Skill Level have been playing the trumpet for eighteen months or longer. For some trumpet players it can take a little longer to reach this level, as long as three years depending on how much they practice.
