A mashup medley of three traditional Christmas carols; Ding Dong Merrily on High, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Joy to the World. The arrangement is fun, just a little modern (with some prominent dissonances) and leaning a little towards the advanced difficulty levels. The reason we are calling it a mashup is because the thematic bits and pieces are blended throughout the arrangement. The material from each of the Christmas carols is shuffled and it’s never clear where one carol ends and the next begins.
Trumpet Christmas Mashup would make a great entertainment piece to lighten a recital or would be perfect fare for a mall gig during the Christmas holidays. It’s a great way for your advanced trumpet students to show off their skills. It will serve a a wonderful compliment to your other trumpet Christmas pieces.
The top note is written D flat above the staff. There are lots of sixteenth notes and technical passages in each part. The end section is in key of Concert B, written D flat.
