Trumpet Master Skill Level

The Trumpet Master Skill Level is the sixth level in our system, the first of two advanced levels. Music and exercises written for this level will have a range up to E above high C. (For compositions with multiple trumpet parts, the range of the lower parts may not be as high, but the other musical aspects will be as advanced.)

Range is the most distinguishable characteristic separating the seven skill levels in our system, but every aspect of music is graduated across the seven levels. At the Trumpet Master Skill Level, the music and exercises begin to explore material that is truly difficult for trumpet players. As an external reference, for those who are familiar with trumpet staples, the famous 36 Etudes Transcendantes by Theo Charlier would fall in this skill level.

Typically, trumpet players using music and exercises from the Trumpet Master Skill Level have been playing the trumpet for six years or longer. However, some trumpet players may never reach this level, no matter how long they practice.
