Trumpet Apprentice Skill Level

The Trumpet Apprentice Skill Level is the fourth level in our system, the second of three intermediate levels. Music and exercises written for this level will have a range up to B flat above the staff. (For compositions with multiple trumpet parts, the range of the lower parts may not be as high, but the other musical aspects will be as advanced.)

Range is the most distinguishable characteristic separating the seven skill levels in our system, but every aspect of music is graduated across the seven levels. At the Trumpet Apprentice Skill Level, the music and exercises begin to utilize odd meters and exotic scales. This is also the level in which the music will take a deeper dive into a-tonal composition.

Typically, trumpet players using music and exercises from the Trumpet Apprentice Skill Level have been playing the trumpet for two years or longer. For some trumpet players it can take a little longer to reach this level, as long as four years depending on how much they practice.
