Hopewell Suite is a trumpet ensemble composition for four trumpets and two flugelhorns. It was composed in 2016 using inspirations Eddie Lewis collected while he was in South Africa for the jazz festival in Grahamstown, in the Eastern Cape.  Hopewell is the name of the farm where Eddie and his wife stayed most of the time while they were in South Africa. The farm is owned by their brother-in-law.

Flora and Fauna is the seventh and last movement of the suite. South Africa has a very diverse ecology. For those of us from the other side of the world, every plant and every animal is delightfully exotic. On Hopewell Farm, aside from the farm animals, there are dozens of species of beautiful birds, including the magnificent Grey Crowned Crane. The area also has monkeys and baboons. There are grysboks, bush bucks and duikers. The farm is also home to rare species of orchids and cycads. And of course, beautiful flowers, like the Red-Hot-Poker, grow wild on the farm. Put it all together and you have a farm experience more exciting than Disneyland (in my opinion).
