Blue Standard is another composition from Eddie Lewis' Trumpet Pioneer series. These are compositions that are easy enough for beginning trumpet players who have only been playing trumpet for a few months. The range is always limited to C in the staff. In this case, Blue Standard has a top range only to second space A. The composition is only sixteen measures long, so endurance is not an issue. The smallest rhythmic value is the quarter-note. No flats, no sharps. It's a beautiful piece to introduce your students to the blues.
